ScrollTroll is designed to help you take mindful breaks from social apps. We keep things simple: your data stays on your device. We don’t collect, sell, or share personal data with third parties. Below is a plain‑English summary of how the app works and what that means for your privacy.
What the app does
- Shows occasional on‑screen reminders (“trolls”) while you’re using popular social apps.
- Lets you adjust frequency and tone of those reminders.
- Optionally lets you snooze reminders for a period of time.
What the app does not do
- No account signup. No cloud storage.
- No reading of your messages, content, or keystrokes.
- No selling or sharing of your data with advertisers.
Permissions we request (Android)
- Draw over other apps – required to display the brief on‑screen reminder.
- Accessibility Service – used to detect when supported social apps are in the foreground and when you scroll, so timing feels natural. We do not read or store the content on screen.
- Usage Access – used to determine which app is currently active, so your per‑app frequency sliders apply correctly. We do not track or transmit your app usage to any server.
- Post Notifications (if used) – may be used for optional nudges or status only.
Data handling
- On‑device only. Frequency settings, mode toggles, and snooze times are stored locally on your phone (in app preferences). No external servers are used.
- No personal identifiers. We don’t ask for your name, email, phone number, or precise location inside the app.
- No third‑party analytics SDKs. We don’t embed analytics or advertising libraries.
Children
ScrollTroll is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the app in a way that raises concerns, please contact us.
Security
Because ScrollTroll doesn’t send your data to external servers, risk is reduced. That said, keep your device OS up to date and use a device lock for added security.
